Dealing with visitors isn’t for everyone, but Mary Jane and Bob Day enjoy meeting people at their Backwoodacres Bed & Breakfast, 450 Days’ Lane, off Johnson Road in Sparta. “It’s fun to meet people who come from all over the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area as well as California, Minnesota, Florida and Alabama,” says Mary Jane. “We enjoy our guests and try to provide a nice escape for them, while respecting their privacy.” Guests stay in a rustic cabin, 100 yards from the Days’ home, that can accommodate up to eight people. Among the benefits of Backwoodacres, is the excellent fishing at the two-acre pond, where bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish are the catch of the day. “We’re particularly busy before and after NASCAR race weekend,” said Mary Jane. “We also get a lot of guests who are visiting the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky and the Ark in Grant County.” The couple opened their business in 2008 after moving to Gallatin County in 1992. The Days grew up in the Mt. Healthy suburb of Cincinnati and have known each other since second grade. They’ve been married 57 years. Backwoodacres is the perfect retirement project for the outgoing Days. For booking, call 859-466-1005.
